Thailand's vehicle exports hit 25-year high

Thailand’s vehicle exports hit a 25-year-high at 103,065 units in August, industry sources said 18 September 2013. Exports of vehicles and automotive parts earned the country 68.6 billion baht (2.1 billion dollars) for the month, Thai Auto Industry Club spokesman Surapong Paisitpattanapong said. During the first eight months of this year, Thailand exported 720,140 vehicles for 328.3 billion baht (10.26 billion dollars), making the sector one of Thailand’s top foreign-exchange earners. Thailand is the leading automobile manufacturer in South-East Asia, with production peaking at 2.4 million unites last year, ranking the kingdom the 10th-largest automobile producer worldwide.
